Algeria leather craft

Boulachab Nasser lives in the Casbah of Algiers. He makes things by hand for many years.

Nasser is a leatherworker. He learns this job from his family. Four generations of men pass the skills from one to the next. But now, Nasser is worried that not many people are interested in this work anymore. He loves his job very much. It is getting hard to make money from it. He is sad because young people, especially the men in his family, do not want to learn how to do this.

The Casbah is a very old and important place in Algiers. The work Nasser does shows the culture and history of his city. However, he is afraid that if young people do not learn these crafts, they will not exist anymore.
