Space Rock might hit Earth in 2032

A recently identified asteroid, designated 2024 YR4, has captured the attention of astronomers due to its minuscule chance of colliding with Earth in 2032. First detected last month by a telescope in Chile, this near-Earth asteroid is estimated to measure between 130 and 330 feet (40 to 100 meters) in diameter.
Despite the initial concern, space agency officials have emphasized that there's no need for alarm. Paul Chodas, director of NASA's Center for Near Earth Object Studies, stated, "We are not worried at all, because of this 99 percent chance it will miss. But it deserves attention."
Scientists are diligently tracking the asteroid's trajectory as it moves away from Earth. As they refine their understanding of its orbital path around the sun, experts anticipate that the already low risk of impact could potentially be reduced to zero.
The asteroid will remain visible for observation over the next few months before it fades from view. It won't be detectable again until its next close approach to Earth in 2028. In the meantime, some of the world's most advanced telescopes will continue to monitor 2024 YR4, aiming to better determine its size and precise path.
