The inaugural World Humanoid Robot Games commenced in Beijing with a captivating opening ceremony, showcasing the remarkable capabilities of AI-powered humanoid robots. The event has drawn over 500 robots from 280 teams representing 16 countries, including technological powerhouses such as the United States, Germany, and Japan.
The opening spectacle featured robots engaging in an array of activities, from hip-hop dancing and martial arts demonstrations to musical performances on various instruments. The robots also exhibited their prowess in sports, including soccer and boxing, with some even performing acrobatic feats like backflips. Despite occasional mishaps, such as falls during modeling segments, many robots demonstrated impressive autonomy by recovering without human intervention.
This three-day competition, running from Friday to Sunday, encompasses a diverse range of events including soccer, running, and boxing. Participants hail from leading robot companies and prestigious Chinese universities, as well as three middle schools, underscoring China's commitment to advancing humanoid robot technology. The games have generated considerable public interest, with ticket prices ranging from 180 to 580 yuan, reflecting the growing fascination with robotics and artificial intelligence in society.
