Woman Raises Money for Hospital Bed

Denise Byas from East Yorkshire initiated a fundraising campaign following a heartbreaking experience with her terminally ill husband, Richard. During his final days in Scarborough Hospital, Richard's last wish was to lie beside his wife, but the standard hospital bed made this impossible.

Motivated by this personal loss, Denise raised £7,000 towards purchasing a 'cuddle bed' for the hospital. These special beds allow loved ones to lie next to patients, providing comfort and closeness during difficult times. The hospital, already fundraising for such a bed, combined their efforts with Denise's, reaching the £15,000 goal.

The hospital continues to raise funds for privacy screens decorated with autumn leaves, symbolizing end-of-life care. Denise's efforts not only honor her husband's memory but also ensure that other families won't face the same heartache she experienced.
