In cities across the United States, very tall people are gathering for a unique experience. At Tall Tour events, they can finally blend in instead of standing out. Women in high heels look up at others, and men who usually duck through doorways feel ordinary.
Tyler Bergantino, who stands 6 feet 9 inches tall, founded Tall Tour last summer. What started with 30 people in Tampa, Florida, has grown dramatically. Recent events have drawn up to 4,000 attendees in Orlando and 750 in Seattle. The concept emerged almost accidentally when Bergantino posted a casual invitation on social media.
For many attendees, these events offer emotional healing. Tall people often feel isolated, especially during their teenage years. They describe a lifetime of unwanted attention - strangers making comments, taking photos without permission, and constantly asking about basketball. At Tall Tour, they can finally relax and connect with others who share their experiences.
The events include speed dating, which is particularly popular with tall women who often face challenges in dating. Organizers also crown the tallest man and woman at each event. What began as a simple meetup has become a growing business, with plans to expand internationally and create more resources for the tall community.
