Blue Origin, the space company founded by Jeff Bezos, had to call off the first launch of its new massive rocket, New Glenn. The launch was scheduled for early Monday morning at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
The 320-foot tall New Glenn rocket encountered technical problems during the final minutes of the countdown. As a result, the launch team had to halt the countdown and drain all the fuel from the rocket. Blue Origin has not yet announced a new launch date, stating that more time is needed to resolve the issue.
Jeff Bezos, who started Blue Origin 25 years ago, was present at the Mission Control for the countdown. Despite the setback, Bezos remained optimistic, saying, "We're going to pick ourselves up and keep going." This launch attempt marks an important step for Blue Origin in its quest to join the competitive commercial space launch market.
