Japan's Population Decline Worsens

Japan is experiencing a significant population crisis. In 2024, the country's population decreased by more than 900,000 people, bringing the total down to 120 million. This marks the largest annual drop on record and continues a 16-year trend of population decline.

The main factors contributing to this issue are a low birth rate and an aging population. Last year, Japan recorded its lowest number of births since 1968, while deaths reached an all-time high.
