Rabbits with 'Horns': The Shope Papillomavirus

Some rabbits in Colorado look strange. They have growths that look like horns on their heads. People are calling them 'Frankenstein bunnies'. But scientists say we should not be scared. The rabbits just have a common virus. This virus is called Shope papillomavirus. It makes warts grow on the rabbits' faces. The warts can look like horns. The virus does not hurt the rabbits much. Their bodies can fight it. When they do, the growths go away. The virus cannot spread to humans or pets. It only affects rabbits.
