Mexico City is one of the world's biggest cities. It has nearly 22 million people. The city is sinking very fast. NASA can see this from space.
The city sits on top of an aquifer. An aquifer is water under the ground. People take too much water from it. When they take the water, the ground goes down. Some parts sink 0.8 inches every month. That is more than 9 inches every year.
The sinking causes many problems. Roads break. Buildings tilt. The city also does not have enough water now. There is a famous monument called the Angel of Independence. Workers added 14 steps to it because the ground went down.
