Albert Einstein's old violin was sold at an auction. The violin is from 1894 and sold for £860,000. This was much more than people thought it would sell for. They expected it to sell for about £300,000.
Einstein loved playing the violin. He started learning when he was four years old. He played every day of his life. Einstein once said if he wasn't a scientist, he would have liked to be a musician.
The violin was sold with some other things that belonged to Einstein. These included a book he gave to a friend. The book sold for £2,200. Einstein gave these items to his friend before he left Germany in 1932.
