Volcano Erupts in Iceland

A volcano in south-west Iceland has erupted, causing the evacuation of tourists and residents from the nearby town of Grindavik. The eruption began in the morning, creating a fiery display of orange and red lava. A huge crack in the ground, now 1.2 km long, has formed due to the eruption.
The volcano's proximity to Grindavik and the popular Blue Lagoon spa has raised concerns. Authorities have asked people to leave the danger zone, though some residents have chosen to stay. The eruption has also caused multiple earthquakes in the area throughout the day.
Iceland's Meteorological Office reported that protective barriers around Grindavik have been breached, with a new eruptive fissure opening inside the town's safety perimeter. This has increased the risk of lava flows entering the inhabited area. Despite the initial intensity, volcanic activity eased off in the early afternoon on Tuesday.
