Collins Dictionary has named 'vibe coding' as the word of the year, highlighting a significant shift in the world of programming. This term refers to the process of creating applications or websites by describing them to artificial intelligence, rather than manually writing code.

The concept was introduced in February by Andrej Karpathy, co-founder of OpenAI. He suggested that AI could allow some programmers to 'forget that the code even exists' and 'give in to the vibes' while developing computer programs.

Vibe coding has made app creation more accessible to non-programmers. Users can now create basic applications by providing simple descriptions to AI tools. For instance, one might request 'make me a program that schedules my weekly meals.'

However, it's important to note that while vibe coding simplifies app creation, it isn't without limitations. The resulting code may not always function perfectly or be free from bugs, especially for more complex applications.
