Scientists have made a remarkable discovery in Argentina, unearthing the remains of a new dinosaur species. This newly found dinosaur belongs to a mysterious group called megaraptorans and is estimated to have been about 23 feet long. The creature lived between 66 and 70 million years ago, near the end of the dinosaur era.
The research team uncovered various parts of the dinosaur's skeleton, including portions of its skull, arm, leg, and tail bones. Intriguingly, they found a crocodile bone pressed against the dinosaur's jaws, providing potential clues about its diet and hunting habits.
This new species, named Joaquinraptor casali, is particularly significant because it offers one of the most complete megaraptoran skeletons discovered to date. Megaraptorans were known for their elongated skulls and powerful claws, and they roamed across what is now South America, Australia, and parts of Asia.
The discovery of Joaquinraptor casali helps fill important gaps in our understanding of dinosaur evolution and provides valuable insights into the diversity of prehistoric life in South America.
