HBO has released the first trailer for its upcoming Harry Potter TV series. The two-minute video takes viewers from the Dursleys' house, including Harry's famous cupboard under the stairs, all the way to Hogwarts School.
The trailer shows Hagrid taking Harry through London on the Underground to King's Cross station. Fans get glimpses of many beloved characters including Professor Snape, Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Draco Malfoy. The series will be called "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" rather than the American title "Sorcerer's Stone."
The show will launch at Christmas 2026 on HBO Max. The entire production is expected to take 10 years, with one series for each of J.K. Rowling's seven books. More than 30,000 children auditioned for the main roles. Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry, with Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron. Adult stars include Nick Frost as Hagrid and John Lithgow as Dumbledore.
Daniel Radcliffe, who played Harry in the original films, has written a letter to McLaughlin wishing him the best experience possible.
