An Irish startup, Manna Aero, is revolutionizing food delivery with its drone service. The company has successfully completed over 200,000 food delivery flights in west Dublin, Espoo in Finland, and Texas. Their specially designed quadcopters, weighing 23kg, cruise at an altitude of 262 feet.
The drones deliver a variety of items, from burgers and chips to fresh meat and eggs. Packages are lowered to customers' gardens using a biodegradable string. Coffee is reportedly the most popular item ordered.
Manna Aero is now setting its sights on the UK market, aiming to launch there in 2026. However, the service has faced some opposition from local residents in Dublin, who complain about the noise. Despite this, the company argues that their drones are quieter and more environmentally friendly than traditional road-based delivery methods.
As drone technology advances, it's clear that the future of food delivery is taking to the skies, though regulations and community acceptance remain hurdles to overcome.
