British Climber Breaks Everest Record

Monday, 19 May, 2025142 words2 minutes
Kenton Cool, a 51-year-old British mountain guide, has achieved a remarkable feat by scaling Mount Everest for the 19th time. This accomplishment breaks his own record for the most ascents of the world's highest peak by a non-Sherpa guide.
Cool's journey with Everest began in 2004, and he has been a regular climber almost every year since then. His persistence is notable, especially considering the challenges faced in recent years. In 2014 and 2015, climbing seasons were canceled due to an avalanche and an earthquake respectively. The COVID-19 pandemic also led to the cancellation of the 2020 season.
While Cool's achievement is impressive, it's worth noting that Nepali Sherpa guides still hold the overall record for Everest climbs. The current record holder is Kami Rita, a Sherpa guide who has scaled the peak 30 times and is attempting another climb this season.
