The Search for Earth-like Exoplanets

Scientists are searching for planets outside our Solar System. In 1995, they found the first planet around another star. Since then, they have discovered over 6,000 planets. These planets are very different from Earth. Some are very hot, and some orbit two stars. Scientists use special tools to find these planets. They look for changes in starlight to spot planets. The goal is to find a planet like Earth that could support life.

Astronomers use big telescopes on mountains to study stars. They hope to find more planets and learn about how they form. One day, they might find another planet just like Earth.
