The New York Knicks won their first NBA championship in over 50 years. They beat the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 on Saturday. New Yorkers were very happy and went to the streets to celebrate.
But the celebrations turned bad. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the foot near Times Square. Five school buses were burned or broken. People jumped on the buses and hit them with bats. Police cars were also damaged.
Many people fought and threw things at police officers. Ten police officers were hurt. The police arrested 63 people. The Knicks owner asked people to be safe, but some people did not listen.
