Spain has a big problem with sick pigs. A disease called African Swine Fever (ASF) was found in wild boars near Barcelona in November. The disease kills pigs and wild boars, but it does not hurt people.
Jordi Saltiveri is a pig farmer. He keeps 8,000 pigs on his farm. He is very worried because the disease makes pork prices fall. Each pig now loses about 30 to 40 in value. Many countries stopped buying Spanish pork.
The government is working hard to stop the disease. They are killing wild boars in the area. They use traps and special cameras to find the animals. Workers clean their shoes and cars carefully. Spain wants to protect its pork industry, which is the biggest in Europe.
