In Japan, a new sport is becoming popular. People race on office chairs in the streets. Teams of three people compete together. They sit on chairs and kick the ground to move backwards. They race for two hours and try to go as far as possible.
Tsuyoshi Tahara started this sport in 2010. He got the idea from his childhood. Now the races happen in 10 cities every year. Big companies like Toyota join the races. The winners get 90 kilograms of rice as a prize.
People love this sport because anyone can join. It is fun and different from their office work. Racers must wear helmets and safety gear. They use normal office chairs that you can buy in stores.
