Mount Fuji's climbing season started on Wednesday. Two hiking trails opened first. Climbers reached the top and saw a beautiful sunrise at 4:30 in the morning.
This year, there are new payment machines at the 5th station. Climbers must pay 4,000 yen to enter. The machines help reduce waiting time. People can also pay online before they come.
Many people climbed the mountain. One student from Australia was very happy to see the sunrise. He was worried about the typhoon, but the weather was good. A worker at a mountain house said more people came than he expected. Last year, over 200,000 people climbed Mount Fuji. The mountain will stay open until September 10.
