The Likweli is a small black monkey. It has orange skin around its mouth and nose. It has a long tail and long black hair on its face. It has big ears that fold.
The monkey lives in the forests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It lives in a small area between two rivers. Scientists saw the monkey 114 times from 2018 to 2022. They studied its body, sounds, and genes. They found it is a different species.
The Likweli may be in danger. People hunt it and cut down its forest home. Scientists say it needs protection.
