LGBTQ Rights in Africa: Challenges and Global Influences

Many countries in Africa are making life harder for LGBTQ people. Some places have new laws that can put people in jail for being gay. Two women in Uganda got in trouble for kissing on Valentine's Day. They might go to prison for seven years.
Some people think the United States is part of the problem. When the US doesn't support LGBTQ rights, it can make things worse in Africa. Some US groups have also spread ideas against LGBTQ people in Africa.
Not everyone agrees on why this is happening. Some say it's because of local politics. Others think it's a way for governments to avoid talking about other problems.
