FIFA made a deal with China to show the World Cup on TV. The deal was made just 27 days before the games start. China will pay $60 million for the 2026 World Cup.
FIFA wanted $300 million at first, but China paid much less. The deal includes four World Cups - two men's and two women's tournaments. The 2026 World Cup will have 48 teams and 104 games in North America.
China did not qualify to play in the 2026 World Cup. Chinese companies like Lenovo, Mengniu, and Hisense are big sponsors of the World Cup. FIFA will make more than $11 billion from the 2026 tournament.
