Cow Manure: A Sustainable Heat Source for Millions of Homes

Farmers are looking at cow poo in a new way. It can be turned into a gas called biomethane. This gas can heat homes.
Right now, about one million homes use this gas. But some people think it could heat up to 15 million homes in the future.
One farmer, Richard Clothier, calls cow poo 'nature's crude oil'. He uses it to make gas on his farm. The gas heats 10,000 homes each year.
To make the gas, cow poo is put into big tanks. Tiny living things break it down and make methane gas. The gas is then cleaned and sent to homes.
