Chinese tourists are not visiting Japan anymore. In February, the number of Chinese visitors dropped by 45.2 percent compared to last year. This is the third month with fewer Chinese tourists.
Before, Chinese people loved to visit Japan. They enjoyed seeing cherry blossoms and Mount Fuji. Shopping was cheap because of the weak yen. But now, South Korea has more tourists than China. In February, 1.1 million South Koreans visited Japan, but only 396,400 Chinese people came.
The problem started in November. Japan's Prime Minister said Japan might help Taiwan if China attacks it. China was very angry about this. China told its people not to visit Japan. Now Chinese tourists are going to other countries like South Korea and Thailand instead.
