Two very strong earthquakes hit Venezuela on Wednesday evening. At least 235 people died and 4,300 people got hurt. Many buildings fell down in Caracas, the capital city, and in La Guaira, a city near the ocean.
The first earthquake was very powerful. The second earthquake came just seconds later and was even stronger. Both earthquakes happened close to the ground, so they caused more damage. Rescuers are looking for people under the broken buildings. Many people are calling for help.
Several countries are sending help to Venezuela. The United States promised $150 million to help. Rescue teams are working hard to find survivors and save lives.
